Our four-bedroom, three-bathroom home is situated off the banks of the Rio Grande River, you'll enjoy having access to 1/8 of a mile of fishing on the Rio Grande River. Our three-story home is the ultimate getaway in a private and peaceful location!

Nestled off the banks of the Rio Grande River, you'll have access to 1/8 of a mile of fishing the banks of the Rio Grande River. And if that's not enough, our home is adjacent to National Forest and a large private ranch, making it a true slice of heaven. You'll be able to enjoy solitude, tranquility, and peacefulness like never before at our home.

The second story of our three-story home boasts a large riverfront deck, as well as an east-side deck perfect for those who love chasing the early morning sun. With plenty of room for guests to spread out, the second level features an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining area, and living room, as well as the main king bedroom.

3rd Bedroom - Full Bed (3rd Level)
Large Open Room - Four (4) Twin Beds (3rd Level) with Smart TV

Take a trip up the 1/2 round log staircase to the third level to find a queen bedroom, a full bedroom, and an open room with four twin beds. And don't forget to step out onto the third-story balcony for breathtaking river views. With a full bathroom on each of the three levels, you'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

For those who want to unwind after a long day of fishing, the bottom floor has a TV and a board game/puzzle room. Before heading upstairs for dinner, be sure to hang up your waders in the mudroom. Come experience the ultimate getaway and book your stay today!

Walk to Antlers Restaurant and enjoy a night of live music on their riverside deck or dine at their riverside restaurant. ATVs are welcome, and you can ride from the house to catch numerous trail systems.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.

Book 7+ nights and a 10% discount is automatically applied (does not apply during Christmas/New Year's and 4th of July holidays).

Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required at the time of booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, you will need to pay in full at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes to stay dates, including changes that result in a shortened stay, are not permitted within 30 days of arrival, and any will result in a penalty. Cancellations or changes made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date forfeit the entire reservation amount. In contrast, cancellations made more than thirty (30) days before your arrival only lose the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations that are at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days before the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance.

  River Gem really is a gem. We stayed for a week and loved the funky ’70s vibe—it felt cozy, a little nostalgic, and exactly what you want in a mountain cabin.
  
  The house was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. There are hummingbirds everywhere, so if you’re into that sort of thing, definitely bring a feeder and prepare to become emotionally invested in tiny flying dinosaurs.
  
  One of our favorite parts was walking down to the river each morning with a cup of coffee. My husband spent his time fly-fishing and actually caught a couple, which gave him enough bragging rights to last until next summer.
  
  There was plenty of room for our group, and every bedroom has a ceiling fan. If you’re someone who likes a lot of airflow when you sleep, you may want to bring a box fan, as we didn’t see any at the cabin.
  
  We saw chipmunks, ducks, and lots of birds, but no bears—which was honestly the perfect amount of wildlife for us.
  
  We had a fantastic week and are already hoping to come back next year!

  My family's vacation near Creede in the River Gem cabin was absolutely fantastic. Having not been to Creede or the surrounding area in 31 years, I was excited to take my family and let them experience what I had every summer of my childhood. The River Gem was perfect to achieve this. Right on the Rio Grande River, great view of the backside of Bristol Head Mountain, as well as the surrounding area. Even with low water flow, my 6 yr old son and I did manage to catch a few trout right in front of the cabin. Wildlife literally right at the backdoor with visits from mule deer, chipmunks and hummingbirds. Even got to see and video our first bear one night. Yeah he made a mess of the trash can, but the clean up was worth the experience. We couldn't have been happier. The cabin was just as beautiful and comforting as the pics. It was a quiet location to bring the peace & comfort you look for during a mountain getaway. The host Amanda was fantastic in communicating with any questions or concerns. Power went out in the area on the day of our checkout. Amanda kept us informed and was very nice telling us not to worry about finalizing cleaning & the checkout steps with the cabin. My family and I can't thank everyone enough. This was a trip we have looked forward to for quite some time and we will definitely be returning. I highly recommend staying at the River Gem!!

  We had a great stay in our cabin, we enjoyed river access and it was absolutely beautiful! Some info I wanted to share with other renters: we almost hauled a trailer with out ATV's and the road "down" to the property in a short narrow dirt hill with a quick switchback, which was no problem in our vehicles but a heads up in case you plan to haul something. The amenities were great, the cabin lacked almost nothing. There was no pan, we cooked almost every night and the pots worked fine but if you are planning on cooking, maybe pack a pan. The other thing is the upstairs bedrooms are all connected off the loft. We are from Texas and love our A/C so it was hot up there as soon as the sun came up. We would have been fine had we packed some fans, so just a suggestion. We also had a bear in our trash the last night we were there so be aware. It was amazing to see from the windows. I was so impressed with the management company who answered the phone on Sunday when we arrived. I just wanted to ask about a coffee maker, she answered the phone and was so nice and helpful. All in all, it was an authentic and amazing Colorado experience. We relaxed and just played games the whole time we were there (btw the game room is stocked with games). The house was very clean and we felt right at home. Thank you from Texas!

  The stay at River Gem was great! The Rio Grande River right out the front door is super peaceful. Our kids did some fly fishing and hiking right here close and really enjoyed it. Beautiful car rides and 4x4 trails all over for sight seeing. Would definitely stay here again!

  This house is perfect for 8 to 10 guests in Creede. We have been coming to Creede since the mid 90’s and this location. It’s an easy drive to South Fork and Lake City. Lots of riding trails and places to fish/ day camp. The house it’s self has everything you will need, we bring our own paper plates and cups so we don’t use much or any of the kitchen ware the is provided. However if you don’t want to pack all that this house has everything you need to cook meals and eat. Another great perk is a short walk to Antlers Lodge, and the food is great.

  We had a great experience in this cabin. It was perfectly appointed for our family of four--kids upstairs and parents downstairs. We enjoyed all the outdoor seating options and appreciated the blackout curtains for those wanting to sleep in a bit. I have to admit that I loved the labeled kitchen cabinets. It made it easy to cook and clean up. I despise staying in rentals with cluttered, unorganized cabinets. We look forward to coming back to this cabin in the future. It's a lovely weekend retreat.
